Just Do It Already!

It's been a few days since I started my 30 day improvement guide and I can say with confidence now that it is making quite the positive influence on my life! As predicted I'm not 100% on all my habits kicked and new habits implemented but slowly and surely they are starting to take shape. Right after my last post I did indeed go for a run but even better then that I picked up the phone and called a music producer that I had been putting off due to fear. Well he is turning out to be quite the awesome guy and we've now planned to get together at the studio this Friday to officially meet and work on some music writing and maybe even do some tester vocals to see what we can come up with. It's so crazy how all I needed to do was pick up the phone, make a phone call and now things are moving right along. Fear was the only thing holding me back from making that call and I'm so glad I got over myself and just did it. Had I not, who knows how long it would have taken for something like this to happen. It's been a life long dream of mine to record an album and I'm finally at the beginning of realizing that dream and I'm so excited for the journey I'm about to embark on. So many things are changing in my life right now and I'm embracing them all with open arms. Change in the fuel for creativity and joy! Also since starting my 30 day plan I have been writing more music, sticking to my running at least 3 days a week, eating healthier and working on my music industry knowledge. The only one I'm having issues with is the getting out of bed earlier and meditating daily but all in due time, baby steps remember. So this is my challenge to you: This week I want you to accomplish ONE thing, just one, that you have been meaning to do for a while and JUST DO IT ALREADY! Don't think, don't make excuses, just DO. The action of doing will bring with it momentum I promise you. Ever start to tidy a bit around your room then before you know it you're working on a complete overhaul? Momentum. All you have to do is start.

It's bringing me a lot of joy writing this blog and I'm glad one of my new habits is to do it more. I would love to hear more from my readers though! I know you're reading and coming because I can see I'm averaging 1000 views a month so leave me a comment and lets start some dialogue!

With Gratitude,
Calan

  1. That wonderful to read and I am glad that you are taking the baby steps, to head in the right direction. So much of how we are and what we do has to do with conditioning and the stories we create for ourselves, are thus and so. It's thinking outside the box that helps us to figure out what makes us tick, and who we are as a person, without the conditioning and patternes attached to us by our parents as well as society. Here's one that I love include this in your creative efforts, but it does seem like your on the way, is to have that artist date with yourself, each week, for one hour. Just like taking care of the project, we need to get to. I do something I need to take care of, once a day almost, because my life is filled with so many projects that need taking care of and getting done. But the artist date with yourself is to do anything that you love, your music, your meditation, your writing, sometimes we can't always do everything because each day is unpredictable, busy busy busy so if you can stick to one day a week your artist date, so you don't get down on yourself, for not being able to always get to doing those things each and everyday. I have been listening to the Deepak Chopra meditations now free, today is day six they are wonderful. I missed one day just to busy to get it in. Just do what you can and don't feel like your letting yourself down just because you did not get to it....Great to be in control and not give you power to others who like to think they have the power over you. Something I have struggled with for years, but most definitely had to do with my conditioning, and the way I was brought up ...hard to break old patterns...I think when we look at regrets there more like a ball and chain that you never let's you go, to me then it holds you back, life is the journey traveled, we all make mistakes and wish this, wish that, don't you think regrets only hold you back and make you feel like your life was a waste if you live it and think that way, but in the end it does not change a thing. Chalk it up as a learning experience, if it is meant to be, then it was intended to happen that way...for me we should not regret a thing because it's all part of a learning experience, it is what it is...how would we learn and grow, it's just like your fears holding you back...don't live your life in fear..or regretting, it teaches us the lessons we needed to learn sometimes some don't get it and it happens over and over, some get it some don't but why beat yourself up for something that you think you should of done, I think it holds you back like the ball and chain...thanks....
