I've been doing a lot of self work in these days of late, trying to conquer my bad habits and old routines. The other day I sat down after finishing the amazing book "The Magic Of Thinking BIG" by David J. Schwarts and wrote out my "thirty-day improvement guide" for myself. The guide is like a contract to help you stop all your bad habits and implement new and more productive ones. Procrastination was one of my old habits I am trying to drop so I've been working on making a daily/weekly list of things I need to get done in the week and making sure that by the end of the week all of those tasks are finished and crossed off. Blogging more is on that list and even though I wanted to go up stairs and watch my one TV show that I know is recorded I sat down to write this post! Also I'm going to go for a run right after this because running three days a week is also on my To Do list. Then after that I will allow myself to watch my show. It actually makes me feel better having the list because when I finish tasks it makes me feel a sense of accomplishment in the short term which leads to bigger accomplishments in the long term I believe.
I'm obviously going to have slip ups and not get some things done when I say I want to but at least I'm moving in the right direction. It's put a little fire under my butt to get going and make things happen. Remember, dreams are amazing but they need ACTION in order for anything to come of them. So today, sit down and write out a contract with yourself. Make your own 30 day plan and see how much more you get done in those 30 days and how much better you feel about yourself!
